Men's Soccer Tops No. 10 Ranked WestchesterÂ
(Valhalla, NY) The sky was clear and the weather was perfect for the Nassau Westchester Men's Soccer match up on Saturday. The Lions traveled to Valhalla, New York to compete against the top 10 ranked Westchester Vikings.
Starting the NCC off on the right foot in the first half was
Juan Alava who scored the first goal for Nassau and kick started their scoring frenzy. The Lions went up 3 and kept Westchester scoreless to close the first half. The Vikings clawed their way back to get within a point by scoring 2 goals early in the second half to make the score 3-2. Jason Cruz and
Jean Paul Rodriguez helped bury Westchester with a goal a piece, and the Lions came home victorious, finishing 5-3.
Head Coach
Dan Fisher commented after the game that this "was a good win on the road. We came out very strong and held the lead. We were able to give a few of the freshman some good experience in the 2nd half, which will immensely help us as the season goes on."
John Paul Rodriguez was the standout player of the game. He recorded had 3 goals and an assist to help lock down the win for Nassau.Â
The Lions are back in action on Tuesday at home versus Manhattan Community College.
