The Lions Cross Country team ran in four events through the month of October. They ran in The Queensborough XC Invitational, The NJIT Highlander XC Challenge, The St. Joseph's College Long Island Invitational, and The Adelphi Short- Course Showdown.
The Lions attended the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge where
Douglas Burgess finished with a time of 30:30.0 with teammates Matthew Lattimer, Nick Montoni, and Rueben Cheong finishing later in the race.
The Lions then went on to compete in the 22nd Annual St. Josephs College Invitational where
Douglas Burgess finished with a time of 34:38.3 with teammates Nick Montoni finishing with a time 37:38.6,
Daniel Beckworth with a time of 37:49.5, and Rueben Cheong rounding out the Lions shortly after.
Lastly we have the The Adelphi Short-Course Showdown, the Lions last event of the season. In the Men's 5k
Douglas Burgess finished with a time of 20:01.3, Nick Montoni finished with a time of 21:15.2, and
Daniel Beckworth finished with a time of 21:23.8
It was a great season for the Lions Cross Country as they continued to grow as athletes being led by
Douglas Burgess who ran a personal record of 30:30 in the 8k and narrowly missed out on All region honors. Nick Montoni also had a strong season for the Lions running a personal record of, 21:15 at the Adelphi Short Course Showdown.
Daniel Beckworth competed well this season running an 8k personal record of 34:37. Rueben Cheong helped the Lions this season with a personal record of 35:40. The Lions look forward to continuing their success in the Outdoor Track season starting this March.
