Lions Soccer Adds Sixth Win to Their Streak

(Brooklyn, NY) Last weekend, the Lions traveled to Brooklyn, NY to take on the Fashion Institute of Technology for the second time this season. Previously, the Lions beat the Tigers 3-0, and they were expecting this time around to be no different - even if they were away from home.

Both teams came out prepared to protect what was theirs to protect. FIT had a lot of energy as they knew they had a lot to prove, but Nassau was able to handle the pressure. NCC kept the ball in FIT's half for a majority of the first half. However, they were unable to execute numerous chances on goal. The first half ended scoreless on both sides.

Going into the second half, the Lions hit their stride, and had a lot more movement with the ball. Diana Lemus created quiet a few hopeful chances, but wasn't able to find the back of the net. Finally Lemus gained possession, brought the ball up the field, and lobbed it right to Hannah Woodward. Woodward drove down the line and cut into the box. She launched the ball from where she was, and scored NCC's first goal! The score now was 1-0, Lions.

Lemus brought the ball up the field for a second time. She battled off a few defenders and found her back facing the net. She kicked the ball up and over her head to find Kristel Carbajal's feet. Carbajal took a powerful swing and blasted the ball to the back of the net - clenching the win for the Lions! The final score was 2-0.

"The women just keep improving every game, and we couldn't be more excited for them. And specifically for captain Brianna Polidora because of how hard she has worked to help motivate the team. Today she showed a lot of aggression and had excellent placement of the ball sending her teammates forward throughout the game. She has been a great leader on this team." stated Head Coach Chris Megaloudis.

The Lions have now won 6 games in a row. They will look to add a 7th to their tally on October 3rd against Manhattan Community College.
