Box Score (Garden City, NY) The Nassau Lion's Men's Soccer team held their home opener on Sunday against Bunker Hill.
The Bunker Hill Bulldogs took an early lead scoring only 18 yards from the goal at the 17:30 mark in the first half. Nassau worked to tighten up their defense, but another one snuck past them putting Bunker Hill up 2-0. With only about 3 minutes left in the first half, the Lions set up with three impressive shots on goal. Unfortunately, they just couldn't find the net leaving the score at halftime Bunker Hill 2, NCC 0.
The Lions came back with a fire under them, but the Bulldogs were in a groove, and scored on abreakaway run with 24:32 left in the game. With the score now 3-0, NCC's freshman,
Phanor Espinosa drove down the field, had a beautiful pass to
Oscar Berrios who shoots & scores taking the Lions up 3-1. Bunker Hill managed to squeeze in one more goal with 8 minutes left. The final score ended 4-1.

Dan Fisher stated after the game, "that this game was a great kick off for our men. We have a very young team this year. We had our chances, but couldn't connect. NCC & BH are always nationally ranked teams, and this helped give us a taste of what nationally ranked opponents will be like. We have a lot of talent that is ready to work hard - it should be a fun year!"
