Box Score (Garden City, NY) The Nassau Community College Women's Soccer Team hosted Dutchess Community College at home on Mitchell Field last Saturday. The stands were crowded with family and friends, and not even the blistering sun nor the steamy temperature of 91 could stop the Lions from total domination.
Within minutes of the start of the first half,
Hannah Woodward drove down the sideline, and crossed into the box to
Diana Lemus. Lemus got a beautiful shot off before the Falcon defenders could stop here, and she seized the first goal of the game!
Shortly after
Brianna Polidora tallied their next goal after getting an assist from the midfield. The women pushed through the difficult heat and kept Dutchess scoreless. With an assist into the box from
Maya Jones,
Diana Lemus was back again and found the net for the third goal, bringing the score 3-0. Just before ending the first half,
Kayla Murphy had a breakaway run, and scored! Going into the half the score was 4-0.
Coming out from halftime, you could see how well the team was gelling. Both on offense and defense the women were covering for each other, and getting open in all the right ways. There were a lot of strategic passes into the box, but none hit the net until
Lisa Maybie took a long shot on goal and score! The Lions won 5-0!
In the past 3 games, NCC has successfully kept all of their opponents scoreless. Not only are they on a 3 game win streak, no one has been able to get the ball past their last line of defense, which is certainly an impressive feat!
The Lions will be back in action under the Friday night lights to take on Manhattan Community College.
