(Seaford, NY) The Nassau Women's Lacrosse team competed in their first game of the 2018 season on Saturday. Unfortunately, the Lions had to cancel their first two matches due to inclement weather. Needless to say, they were ready to compete.
NCC came out with a bang and scored 2 goals within a matter of minutes. Sophomore
Danielle Keener and Freshman
Yenifer Molina were the perfect duo. Molina was the assist for the first goal while Keener attacked the net for both points. Shortly after, things took a turn for the worst for the Lions. Harford went on a 22 point run to bury the Lions. Nassau couldn't recover. However, they didn't give up. Midfielder
Yenifer Molina scored with 7:49 to go finalizing the score 3-22. Keener tallied the assist. Another noteworthy performance was by Goalie
Anita DeSantis. She had a total of 20 saves.
Head Coach
Maria Varricchio commented after the game, "Overall the women's lacrosse team showed great team spirit and are looking forward to the contest against Fredrick next weekend."
The Lions will host their first home game of the season on Saturday at 3 PM against Frederick Community College.
