Lions Softball Falls to Orange

(Garden City, NY) Nassau Women's Softball hosted the Orange Community College Colts at home on Thursday for a double header.

The Lions came out the gate hot in the first game. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Sildrany Lopez had a line drive to right field to get on base. Off of a wild pitch, Lopez stole both 2 bases to advance to third. Lindsay Cook took the plate and sent her home putting the Lions up 1-0.

The game was scoreless until the top of the 4th inning when Nassau slipped up with a few errors and gave up 2 runs. The Lions didn't manage to score in the bottom of the 4th, but kept pushing. In the top of the 5th, pitcher Geena Fornataro caught a line drive and threw the ball back to third base to make a double play and end the inning.

Unfortunately, the 7th inning got the best of the Lions, and the Colts managed to score 4 runs. The final score was 7-1, Orange.

The Lions fought to gain momentum back in the second game, but weren't able to hold the Colts down. They lost 14-0.

After the game Head Coach Kristine Abrams commented that, "This was one of the most difficult games for us so far. All I hope is that we learn from our mistakes today, and use that to our advantage in the coming weeks. These are the games that will make us stronger."
