(Garden City, NY) On Monday night, the men's soccer team suited up against regional rival Monroe CC.
In the first half, Nassau took the lead early off of a goal from JP Rodriguez. The Lions defense kept the Mustangs scoreless as they went into halftime.
In the second half, Jason Cruz scored on a penalty kick after being taken down going to the goal. Monroe didn't give up and in the 88th minute found the back of the net, but there wasn't enough time. The Lions secured the victory 2-1.
"This was a great regional win to end conference play. Now we really need to lock it in as we look forward to and prepare for the playoffs." commented Head Coach

In addition to the goals from Crus and Rodriguez, goal keeper Matt Reynolds had 5 key saves in goal.
The Lions are now 14-1 going into their final game of the regular season against Bergen CC on Thursday.
