Men's Tennis Continues 5 Match Win Streak

(Selden, NY) The Men's Tennis Team competed against regional rivals, the Suffolk Sharks, on Sunday. With the clear, sunny day, the Lions knew it was the perfect day for a match.

Starting with singles, Jack Chen played third position going up against Suffolk's Tom Panicola. Chen's backhand returns defeated Panicola in the 2nd and 3rd set tie break to give him the win. Overall NCC won 5 out of 6 singles matches.

Moving on to doubles, Juan Jimenez and Chen took control of the net and played a tough offense, forcing the Sharks to crumble. Unfortunately, Matt Musalo's injured his wrist during singles and was unable to play with his doubles partner. Sean Parsons stepped up and played with Angel Lugo in first doubles. They played a tough match, and barely fell 9-7.

Overall the Lions finished 7-2 and the Men's team has yet to lose a match this season. They are sitting at 5-0 for the season.

Assistant Coach Lin Ochoa commented, "Suffolk fought really hard, and pushed our kids in ways we know we needed today. We have a few weeks of practice left and a few more matches before the tournament. I know we will be ready come May."

Up next for the Lions will be Brookdale Community College on Thursday. This will be the last regular season game before the Region XV Tournament starting April 27th.
