Women's Soccer Shuts Down Holyoke

(Holyoke, MA) On Friday night, the Nassau Women's Soccer Team hit the road to compete against Holyoke Community College.

In the first half, the Lions took plenty of shots but couldn't find the back of the net. From a defensive perspective, they remained strong to keep Holyoke out of Nassau territory. Despite the efforts from both teams, the score was 0-0 going into halftime.

Nassau came into the second half with an aggressive attitude and pushed to create opportunities for themselves. With the help of Claudia Andrande, Amirah Campbell got the Lions on the board. The women kept the pressure on Holyoke and took away any chance they had on the Lion's goal to secure the 1-0 win.

Head Coach Chris Megaloudis commented post game, "We started out a little slow, but once we started to possess the ball dominated the game. We were able to stay tough throughout and finish strong, which proves that our conditioning is paying off. In each game we continue to build the confidence of putting the ball away, which is going to be key going forward."

The Lions are now 2-1. They will compete again next Sunday in their first home game of 2019 against Mercer County.
