Lions drop game in a shootout - Nassau Community College Athletics

The Lions paid a visit to Selden in a matchup against the Suffolk Sharks. The two teams would exchange goals early in this game with Suffolk getting on the board in the tenth minute to get the lead. However the Lions would return the favor less than ten minutes later when Kara Deblaiso would strike with an unassisted equalizer to tie the game at one a piece. Both teams would be unable to get through the opposing defense until the fortieth minute when Suffolk broke the stalemate putting in back to back goals in the span of two minutes giving them a 3-1 lead. But just before half the Lions responded with an assisted goal coming from the foot of Katie Sorto Zavala which led to a 3-2 game going into halftime. Coming out of haltime the Lions offense came out where they left off in the first with another unassisted equalizer from Kara Deblaiso knotting the game up at 3-3. Both teams would battle back and forth attempting to break the tie until unfortunately in the seventy-seven minute Suffolk was able to break it with a goal which ended up being the game clinching goal leading to a Nassau 4-3 loss.
