Lions win season home opener - Nassau Community College Athletics

The Lions started their season with a home opener against the FIT Tigers. The Lions started the game and their season on a high note when only in the third minute Freshman forward Kara Deblaiso got the Lions on the board 1-0 with an unassisted goal. The teams would battle back and forth exchanging opportunities for the remainder of the half with the Lions defense remaining rock solid not allowing a shot on goal from the Tigers while putting up 7 shots of their own and went into halftime with the 1-0 lead. Coming out of half early on it was much like the first half with the Lions controlling the Tigers offense not allowing a shot, then the Lions went up 2-0 from the foot of Johanna Gustafsson with an assist from Tatianna Austin in the fifty-eighth minute. Austin would then put the game out of reach of the Tigers herself with an unassisted goal in the seventieth minute. 3-0 would end up being the final score of this matchup with a stellar defensive performance from the Lions.
