The Lions faced the #1 ranked Harford Fighting Owls in the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship Semi-Final at Mitchel Field Saturday. This game would be a rematch of their regular season meeting that saw the Fighting Owls win by a 12-13 final score. The Lions looked to get revenge with a chance to defend their National Championship on the line while Harford looked to redeem themselves from last years National Championship game that saw them fall to the Lions in overtime. The game got under way and the Lions managed to strike first just three minutes into the game with a goal from
Sean Rice (
Brian Pohoreckyj). A few minutes later the Lions would strike again with a goal from
Kamryn Gill (
Brian Pohoreckyj) to bring the Lions lead to two. Harford would manage to strike back later in the quarter to draw within one. The Lions responded by tacking on two more goals before the end of the first quarter coming from
Jordan McCoy and
Kyle O'Donoghue with both being assisted by
Kamryn Gill. The Lions entered the second quarter with a 4-1 lead, the second quarter was all Lions as they went on to add four unanswered goals through the quarter with goals coming from
Sean Rice (
Brian Pohoreckyj),
Shane Coleman (
Brian Pohoreckyj),
Brian Pohoreckyj (
Kamryn Gill), and
Sean Rice (
Brian Pohoreckyj). The Lions had built on their lead to now make the score 8-1 going into halftime. Going into the third quarter Harford would strike first but the Lions would immediately answer scoring four unanswered with goals coming from
Ryan Murphy (unassisted),
Sean Rice (
Kyle O'Donoghue),
Sean Rice (
Kamryn Gill), and
Kyle O'Donoghue (
Brian Pohoreckyj). Harford would score again before the end of the third quarter to bring the score to 12-3 entering the final quarter. With one quarter left the Fighting Owls came out firing on all cylinders trying to fight their way back into the game, they managed to score six goals in the final quarter but major defensive stops and saves by Lions goalie
Andrew Tittman allowed the Lions to fend off Harford in the final minutes and secure the 12-9 victory and a spot in the NJCAA National Championship Final against Howard Community College.
