NCC Esports Wins 2 SUNY Championships
The Nassau Community College esports program won two SUNY Esports championships in Valorant and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate last week. 

In Super Smash Bros., Daniel Blanco completed a perfect season, winning all regular season and playoff matches en route to claiming the state title. He defeated SUNY Fredonia's AJ LaMacchia in the grand final on May 2. 

The Valorant team, which entered the playoffs as the second seed, defeated fifth-seeded Binghamton University "A" in the grand final by a score of 3-1 on May 3. After losing the first round, the Lions rallied for three straight wins in rounds two through four to claim the state championship.

• Sophomore Simon Wong (Moutai) had a series KDA of (77-57-28).
• Freshman Evan Liu (Azalea) had a series KDA of (71-57-33).
• Sophomore Michael Maggi (Keoi) had a series KDA of (52-54-30).
• Sophomore James Winter (Uffda) had a series KDA of (43-54-6).
• Sophomore Kevin Fernandez (Kevn) had a series KDA of (30-38-17).
• Freshman Jessica Zahn (Ophiuchus) had a series KDA of (11-15-16).
• Freshman Azaan Azhar (Psycho) had a series KDA of (14-16-6).

How it happened

• In a thrilling best-of-five series, NCC overcame Binghamton 3-1.
• Binghamton took an early lead, winning Round 1 on Sunset, but NCC came back and took the next three rounds.

Notes

• Second-seeded NCC eliminated fifth-seeded SUNY Binghamton to win the SUNY Grand Finals.
• NCC now holds two state championships.
