Burch and Ashley Represent Nassau at NJIT XC Invitational
NEWARK, N.J. – Competing against a deep and competitive field, Jeremaiyh Burch and Jayden Ashley represented Nassau Community College at the NJIT Highlander Cross Country Invitational on October 11, turning in gritty performances in the Men's Open 8K at Branch Brook Park.
Burch Cracks Top 30 in Competitive Field
Freshman Jeremaiyh Burch paced the Lions with an impressive 28th-place finish, clocking a time of 28:39.00. Against a field of more than 120 runners that included NCAA athletes, club competitors, and unattached entries, Burch held strong and delivered a personal-best performance over the 8-kilometer distance.
"Jeremaiyh ran with confidence," said Head Coach Chris Roethel. "He stayed focused from the gun and managed his effort well."
Ashley Gains Valuable Experience
Fellow Lion Jayden Ashley crossed the line in 35:09.00, finishing 82nd overall. The race marked an important milestone in Ashley's season as he continues to gain strength and consistency.
A Step Forward for Nassau XC
With both runners continuing to show growth, the NJIT Invitational served as a key checkpoint in Nassau's season. The team continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the fall, with the biggest meets on the horizon.
