The Nassau Community College men's soccer team continued its dominant form with an 8-0 shutout victory over Dutchess Community College on Saturday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The win marked the Lions' ninth straight victory, improving their record to 10-2 in Region XV conference play. Nassau dominated all phases of play, scoring early and often while maintaining defensive discipline throughout. Nassau stands atop the Region XV rankings.
How It Happened
- First Half: Nassau wasted no time setting the tone, scoring five times in the opening 45 minutes. Mohamed Alsayedi netted his first goal just 79 seconds into the match, then doubled the lead in the 11th minute after following up a rebound from Juan Sanchez De Los Santos. Sanchez De Los Santos continued to orchestrate the attack, assisting on two more goals—setting up Alexis Gomez in the 21st minute and feeding Jeremy Ramos for a finish in the 39th. Defender Benjamin Perez converted a penalty kick just before halftime to make it 5-0 at the break.
- Second Half:Â Nassau's offense stayed relentless after the restart. Alsayedi completed his hat trick in the 52nd minute with a curling shot from the left side, and freshman Adryan Campos scored his first collegiate goal less than a minute later off a feed from Jayden Marcia. Marcia then added a goal of his own in the 59th minute to close out the scoring, sealing the 8-0 win. Goalkeeper Bryan Hernandez made one save to record his sixth shutout of the season.
