Nassau Community College men's lacrosse delivered a dominant offensive performance on the road, defeating Anne Arundel Community College 23-7. The Lions controlled the game from start to finish, using explosive scoring runs and balanced contributions across the lineup to secure the win.
How It Happened
First Quarter
Nassau came out firing, jumping to an early lead just under two minutes into the game as Tim Navin scored the opening goal off an assist from Jake Grimm. That goal sparked a relentless offensive stretch, as the Lions scored seven of the first eight goals in the period.
Alex Kershis followed with an unassisted goal, and Navin added two more scores during the run. Grimm and Alessandro Walaitis each found the net as Nassau built a commanding 7-0 lead before Anne Arundel got on the board late in the quarter. Nassau responded immediately, with Grimm scoring again in the final minute to give the Lions an 8-1 lead after one.
Second Quarter
Anne Arundel opened the second quarter with three quick goals, cutting the deficit to 8-4 and briefly shifting momentum. However, Nassau quickly regained control.
Kershis ignited the response with an unassisted goal, followed by a score from Harley Finklestein off a GianCarlo Valenti assist. Navin continued his standout performance, scoring twice more during the quarter, while Luke Hartman added a man-up goal.
The Lions closed the half strong, including another late goal from Kershis, extending the lead to 15-5 at halftime.
Third Quarter
Nassau put the game out of reach in the third quarter, opening with back-to-back unassisted goals from Kershis to extend the lead. Matt D'Aversa and Grimm added goals during a dominant stretch that saw Nassau outscore Anne Arundel 6-1 in the period.
Richard Cardali capped the scoring run late in the quarter, pushing the Lions' advantage to 21-6 heading into the final frame.
Fourth Quarter
Nassau continued to control play in the fourth, with Grimm adding another goal early in the period. After Anne Arundel scored once more, Nick Gampero closed out the scoring with a late goal, sealing the 23-7 victory
