(Garden City, NY) Nassau Volleyball went head to head with the Fashion Institute of Technology Tigers on Thursday in the NJCAA Region XV Playoffs. Going into the competition the Lions were 16-3 in the conference, and feeling confident.

The Tigers put up a tough fight, but it didn't withstand the Lions determination. The first set was close, finishing 25-21 NCC. In game 2, Nassau pulled away fairly quickly, and built up a 9 point lead at one point. FIT was persistent, and chiseled their way back to make the game within reach. But the Lions finished the job, and cleaned up 25-18. Going into game 3, the women were ready to seal the deal, despite the effort that FIT made to come back early on in the match. The women kept their composure, weathered the early storm, and pulled ahead to finish the match handily, 25-17.

Kiara Tibbs led with 11 kill, while Emily Kaufman contributed 6 block and 6 digs. Alicja Zaborawska finished with 26 assists and 3 aces. 

This Saturday the Lions will face Rockland Community College in the NJCAA Region XV Semi-Finals in Middletown, New York, as they hope to advance to the NJCAA National Championship on November 10th.
