(Louisburg, NC) NCC traveled to North Carolina last weekend to compete against the undefeated Louisburg Hurricanes. With 450 fans in the stands, the Lions took to the field at Louisburg College ready to put a stop to their winning streak.
NCC took charge early scoring the first touchdown of the night with 8:13 to go in the first quarter! Before the quarter was over Louisburg responded with an interception of their own, putting a total of 7 up on the board.Â
Going into the second quarter the Hurricanes found their groove, and managed to squeeze in 2 touchdowns before halftime. The Lions knew they needed to keep fighting as the game was not out of reach. They came back from the half with a positive attitude, and renewed energy.Â
Louisburg scored another touchdown and a field goal, but the Lions closed out the third quarter with a TD! It was a battle until the very end. NCC held the Hurricanes to only one more touchdown for the game, and had the last say scoring another touchdown with 5:35 left to play. The final score ended 20-38.Â
The Lions were just shy of pulling off a win, and overall had good performances from multiple individuals helping the team get there. Offensively, Quarterback
Khalil Trotman entered the game after halftime, and was 18 of 29 for 215 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
Ahmere Dorsey was the leader for all receivers with 6 catches, 47 yards and 1 touchdown.
Marcus Layne wasn't far behind with 6 catches for 34 yards, and Rashaad Tucker completed 3 catches for 52 yards.
The Lions will be back to redeem themselves this Friday as they take on Army Prep!
