Lions Handily Defeat Kingsborough

(Brooklyn, NY) The Women's Soccer Team traveled to Brooklyn to take on Kingsborough Community College last weekend. The Lions have won an impressive 8 out of their 10 games, and they were looking to add another win against The Wave.

From the get go NCC had a majority of possessions. The first shot on goal was created by Kristel Carbajal who took the ball up the field, and knocked the ball into the back of the net. This gave the Lions the early 1-0 lead they wanted.

Brianna Polidora and Kristel Carbajal took down the Kingsborough defenders and lobbed multiple balls to Maya Jones. Jones took off like a flash with each and before the half was over, she had the Lions leading 4-0.

As NCC was leading handily, the coaches decided to switch things up, and see how the women would adapt. The shake up worked. Bridget Tressiel drove the ball down the left side of the field and took a shot right outside the 18 yard box. Her shot soared across the air, and slipped past the goalie, becoming their 5th goal of the game.

Movement on the field was great, there was a lot of solid teamwork. Melany Rodriguez set up Kayla Murphy perfectly at the net for the lefty to take her shot, and it was good as gold.

With only a few minutes left to play, Haley Shmidt, the center back, brought the ball all the way up the field where she got a beautiful open shot on goal, bringing the final score Lions 7, The Wave 0.

Nassau is only 3 games out from the Region XV NJCAA Tournament on October 18th. Next up they will take on Monroe College at home.
