(Selden, NY) Last weekend, Women's Volleyball journeyed across Long Island to take on not one, but two different teams. Up to this point, the Lions had won 5 game in a row. They were coming off of a 6 day break between games, were feeling refreshed, and ready to go.
The Westchester Community College Vikings were the first victim. The Lions faltered a little bit in the beginning as they got back into their groove, but still won the first two games handily 25-15 and 25-17. They tweaked their lineup for game three, and the Lions were off and running! They solidified the win quickly with the final score being 25-11.
Emily Kaufmann lead in kills with 8, and had 4 service aces.
Emily Angelastro also had 4 service aces, and tallied 12 digs.
Next up that afternoon was Rockland Community College. They came out strong with a few solid hitters, but the Lions welcomed the challenge.Â
They took down the Fighting Hawks in 3 games. The first was a breeze finishing 25-15. The next game, the Lions had to tighten up on as RCC came close to taking over, but the Lions finished 25-21. Going into the third set, the Lions were ready to finish it. Rockland was competitive coming within 2 points with the final score 25-23, NCC.
In this game, Kiarra Tibbs had 18 kills, 3 block solos, and 1 block assist.
Genesis Zepeda finished with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Alicja Zaborowska tallied an impressive total of 27 assists and 8 digs.Â
The Lions will add two more games to their streak making that 7 straight wins. Next up is Monroe College at home.
