(Columbia, MD) Nassau returned to the Howard Dragon Invitational to face NJCAA Division II Frederick Community College after defeating Chesapeake College 76-71 on Friday.
NCC was feisty, and took every chance they could get to charge ahead. They went into halftime leading 37-30. Sophomore Forwards Jalen Burgess and Cameron Winston had 13 and 8 points, respectively.
In the 2nd half, Frederick came back with a vengeance. They outscored the Lions in the second half by 5 points to bring it to a 2 point game. Just as time was about to expire, Frederick's Marlon White, JR. took a long shot, and just missed the game tying field goal as the final buzzer sounded. Nassau was victorious 72-70.
Burgess had an excellent performance leading all scorers for the day with a total of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Patrick Gardner contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Nassau's record is now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference. They will return to the court on the 14th of November to challenge Kingsborough Community College at home.
