(Garden City, NY) Last Tuesday, the Lions hosted their second home game of the season. They went head to head with conference rival Kingsborough Community College.

The Lions were slow off the line, and let Kingsborough rule the first half. KCC's Micaiah Goosby scored 19 of 30 overall points during the first period helping The Wave lead by as many as 12 points. Nassau answered making a 22-14 point run with 8:37 left to cut the deficit by 4 going into half time, the score 44-40. Sophomore Forward Cameron Winston lead the team in first half scoring with 16 points.

The second half was a battle back and forth. Nassau's Patrick Gardner tied the game 50-50 with 14:54 to go. The lead went between Kingsborough and Nassau multiple times until Nassau took a commanding 8 point lead with 6 minutes remaining. Jalen Burgess lead the fight scoring 9 of the 22 points scored during the 8 minute stretch. Kingsborough wasn't giving up that easily, and cut the lead to only 1 point, 79-78, with less than a minute left. Cheyenne Nettleton made 4 free throws in the last 30 seconds to seal the win for the Lions, finishing 85-82.

Cameron Winston led NCC with 19 total points. Burgess carried 16, which were all made in the second half, while Dana King also tallied 16 points.

Nassau captured their first Region XV win putting them 1-1 in the conference and 3-1 overall. The Lions will be back on Saturday to take on Manhattan Community College.
