(Bronx, NY) The Nassau Women's Basketball Team went head to head with the Bronx Community College on Tuesday. The Lions were coming off of a tough loss from Manhattan Community College in the previous week, but were ready for revenge.
From the start of the first quarter, the Lions were quick to take control. 3 out of 4 quarters the Lions held the Broncos to single digits in scoring.They won handily 87-34.Â
Kashianna Wynter lead the team with a game high of 26 points. She was 11 for 15 from the field. She also tallied 5 assists and 5 key steals.
Nicole McCann wasn't far behind, scoring 24 points. She shot 5 for 12 from the 3 point arch. Freshman
Samantha Capobianco recorded another double-double with a career high of 21 rebounds and 17 points.
Victoria Mercado was an all around team player contributing 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Collectively the team shot 71% from the free throw line.
Head Coach
Brian Kuar commented after the game, "Overall our defense allowed us to take control of the game, and get those high percentage looks at the basket. We have really started to gel as a team, and I'm excited for what's to come."
For the season, the Lions are 5-2 and in the Region XV conference are 3-1. They will return on Saturday to take on conference rival Sullivan Community College.
