Box Score (Herkimer, NY) The Women's Soccer Team took on the Genessee Cougars last Sunday, August 27th. Being their first game of the season, the women are still getting familiar with each of their teammates style, while also playing as a unit.
From the very beginning Freshman
Maya Jones gave the team the speedy spirit they needed with her persistence and resistance to giving up. She gave 110% throughout the whole game, and always kept her head up even when the tables weren't in her favor.
Diana Lemus was another hustler - she got to every ball she could, and kept the team tempo alive.Â
Goalie
Kayla Murphy was all over the goal. She kept the communication open with her teammates, and stayed strong throughout both halves.
Sophomore's
Haley Schmidt and
Brianna Polidora were the bottles of wisdom on the field. They kept their back line defense organized, missing only a small slip that translated into the only goal of the night. The Lions fell to the Cougars 1-0.
Head Coach
Chris Megaloudis commented post game, "We can only turn the outcome from the weekend into a great way to teach our women how the can improve not only themselves, but as a team overall. There is work to be done, but the team is ready for whatever comes next."Â
You can catch the Lions on Wednesday as they take on Ocean County College in TOMS RIVER, NJ.
