(Ithaca, NY) The Men's Wrestling Team traveled to upstate New York to go head to head with the 3
rd ranked Ithaca College Bombers.
Jorge Barreiro kicked off the match in weight class 133 going against Tito Colom. It was a fight until the end, but Barreiro just couldn't quiet get over the hump. He was defeated 0-6.
Christopher Meloni took charge in the 149lb weight class. He dominated from the beginning, and crushed his opponent Chris Wymer 3-0. He was the only victorious Lion of the day.
The Lions had some tough lineups.
Antonio LaRocca competed against 9
th ranked in the Division III Austin Whitney. He made a few key escapes, but LaRocca took the W, 4-6. While Mike Abidin also fell to 9
th ranked Jaison White, 4-7.
Overall Ithaca came out on top winning 3-42. Due to a shortage, the Lions were forced to forfeit 3 weight classes from the beginning: 125, 184, and 197.
After the meet, Head Coach
Paul Schmidt commented, "Although the score ended up lopsided, we had some very close matches against quality wrestlers. Every meet is another chance to get better, and that's what we did here today."
The Lions are back in action
on Saturday to take on SUNY-Cortland at home.
