Nassau Basketball Wins Morris Turkey Hoop Shoot

(Randolph, NJ) Over the weekend, Nassau Women's Basketball traveled to New Jersey to compete in the Community College of Morris Turkey Hoop Shoot. They went face to face with Middlesex CC and CC of Morris.

First up, on Saturday, were the Middlesex Blue Colts. The Lions dominated from the beginning, winning 100-30. In the first half Bri'Anna Jones had 17 points, while Bobbi Green had 15. In the second half Lindsay McBean came alive and tallied 12. Overall, Jones and McBean finished with 21 points each. Head Coach Brian Kuar commented after the game, "We limited our turnovers, but we still need to share the ball more. Defensively we shut them down for the entire second quarter, and we need to continue to put pressure on all of our opponents like that."

Next up in game number 2 was the home team, CC of Morris. The Titans were a tough team and came out for a battle from the very start. It took NCC a moment to find their footing, but by the end of the second quarter they had gone on a 10-0 run to take the lead just before halftime. In the second half, a couple of starters got into foul trouble forcing them onto the bench. Their substitutes did an excellent job of keeping the Lions in the game and they successfully pulled out the victory 76-55. Bri'Anna Jones received MVP of the game and Bobbi Green received All-Tournament.

Coach Kuar commented after the game, "We have some room to grow on defense. We got into foul trouble very early in the game, but luckily were able to bounce back and stay in the game to finish strong."

The Lions keep their win streak going as they gear up to play Bronx CC at home on Tuesday, November 20th.
