The lions had a great weekend upstate going a combined 2 and 0 and out scoring their opponents 32 to 6.
(Genesee, NY & Finger Lakes, NY) On Saturday, Nassau faced a tough opponent in #4 ranked Genesee Community College. The lions started off hot going up 3-0 in the first quarter off two goals from freshman
Aldrich Cheng and a goal from freshman
Braydon Cresswell. Genesee answered back with a goal late in the quarter off a broken play and rebound to make the score 3-1 at the end of the first. The lions rattled off three goals in the second quarter, two from freshman
Justin Roderka and a second from Cresswell to give Nassau a 6-1 lead at the half.
The lions tallied four goals in the third quarter. Freshman
Eddie Munoz, sophomores
Dylan Villari and
Evan Killen each scored one goal a piece and
Braydon Cresswell notched his third of the game. Genesee answered with three of their own to give Nassau a 10-4 lead heading into the fourth.
Nassau scored three goals to start the fourth quarter, Roderka scored his third goal of the game while Villari scored his second, and sophomore Pat Morris chipped in with one of his own to give the Lions a 13-4 lead. Genesee scored two goals later in the fourth quarter for a final score of 13-6. Â
The defense had another solid performance behind the play of sophomore goaltender
Billy Kelly who made 21 saves and made a few point blank saves to help secure victory. Freshman
Aidan Conk,
Scott Sasso, Dave Mahler,
Brian Schaefer and Vin Deceglia, along with sophomores
Haze Rainis and
Kevin Meaney led a strong defensive effort. Â
On Sunday of the back to back weekend, The lions traveled to Finger Lakes for a second contest in as many days. The lions had their first shutout of the season behind the strong play of goalies
Billy Kelly and
Gunnar Luckoski. Luckoski played three quarters and made 5 saves. Freshman
Taylor Jensen,
Aidan Conk, Vin DeCeglia,
Scott Sasso,
Brian Schaefer, and Dave Mahler along with sophomores
Haze Rainis and
Kevin Meaney led a strong defensive effort. Also contributing on defense were Donte Goodridge, Stephan Smith and
Zach Honig. Â
The Lions outscored the Lakers 16-0 in the first half, 10 of those coming in the first quarter, en route to a 19 goal performance. The offense was paced by freshmen
Justin Roderka and
Braydon Cresswell with 6 points each. Freshman
Eddie Munoz had 4 points while sophomores
Jack Mullen and Pat Morris had 3 points each.Â

The Lions return to action and play #5 Harford Community College at home this week.Â
