(Bayside, NY) The Lions Baseball team hit the road to play the 2nd game in a series of 4 against the Queensborough Tigers.
NCC fired up the offense in the 1st inning. It was clear that this was going to be a very different game from the previous day. There were multiple hits and 2 men on base when TJ Toscano stepped up to the plate. Toscano took a few pitches before sending the ball soaring out of the stadium for a home run. The Lions racked up 3 runs to close out the inning.
In the top of the 3rd inning, the score was 4-0 - Lions, and the men were just warming up.
Morgan McCarthy helped burry Queensborough by knocking in a grand slam to put the Lions up 8-0.
Marino Sorbaro also had a nice inning, helping the offensive punch in another run to extend the lead to 9-0.
Freshman Pitcher
Andrew Williams helped keep Queensborough scoreless during their at bats. In the top of the 4th, NCC had another powerful inning scoring 5 more runs to put the Lions almost completely out of reach at 14-0. In the last inning,
Morgan McCarthy hit his 2nd home run of the night, driving in his 6th run of the game. The Lions were victorious 18-0.
As a team, Nassau had 10 hits in the game by Toscano,
Ali Ghriaz, Vinny Napolitano, and McCarthy. The team didn't commit a single error on the field all game. Pitcher
Andrew Williams (3-0) was a force to be reckoned with. He didn't allow a single run and struck out 10 batters.
Games 3 and 4 will take place against Queensborough at home in Garden City on Sunday.
