Lions Baseball Tallies 8th Straight Win Against Bronx CC

(Garden City, NY) It was a beautiful Sunday evening for a game of baseball against the Bronx Broncos and the Nassau Lions.

The Lions got the momentum rolling from the very start. With their first at bat, TJ Toscano helped punch in a run with a single to first. The score was 2-0 going into the top of the 2nd inning.

NCC gave up 2 runs to the Broncos, so the game was neck and neck going into the bottom of the 2nd. But the Lions managed to pull away scoring 4 runs to put them up 6-2. John Capozzoli singled on a 0-1 count to score. Toscano was back with another single to snag another run. Vinny Napolitano tripled on the first pitch of the at bat pushing in 2 runs.

The Broncos tried as they might to come back, but the Lions scored in every inning, expect the 5th. In the 6th inning they really pulled away scoring 5 runs. The Lions owed the inning to singles by Capozzoli and Morgan McCarthy, and doubles from Marino Sorbaro and Mike Iacobellis. The final score was 15-5.

Pitcher Wesley Harwood surrendered only 5 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings. He struck out 5 Broncos and had zero walks. Overall the team only had 2 errors, while the Bronx tallied 5. The Lions had a total of 18 hits, one of the highest number of hits they have had in a game so far this season. That makes 8 straight wins for the Lions.

You can catch the team back in action on Wednesday at home as they take on Manhattan Community College.
