Nassau Football Takes Over Louisburg
(Garden City, NY) Under the blue skies last Saturday afternoon, the Nassau Lions hosted the Louisburg College Hurricanes. NCC was looking to revive themselves after the previous weeks' loss against Lackawanna College.
NCC didn't wasn't any time showing the Hurricanes that they meant business. They scored within the first 30 seconds of the game with
Rashad Tucker's 97 yard kickoff return. Louisburg was quick to respond by scoring, but missing the extra point to make the score 7-6. Louisburg scored again in the 2nd quarter to push them past the Lions, 13-7. Sophomore QB
Steven Genova threw a beautiful 45 yard pass to
Jaelin Hood on the last play to give Nassau a 14-13 lead going into halftime.
At the start of the second half, the Lions defense held the Hurricane's to only a field goal, making the score 16-14. Still a very close game, the two teams battled back and forth, until the end of the 3rd quarter where the Lions pulled away. Genova connected with Hood again for multiple touchdowns of 40 and 48 yards to help Nassau seal the deal, 35-26.
Outstanding players of the game were Quarterback
Steven Genova and
Jaelin Hood. Genova went 15 for 24, 219 yards and had 4 touchdowns. Hood tallied 6 receptions for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Jamel Ramsay commented after the game, "What a great effort and performance from everyone - offense, defense, and special teams."
The next game will be big for the Lions as they travel to Ithaca, New York to tackle Cornell JV on Sunday.
