(Garden City, NY) On Tuesday night, the Nassau Lions hosted the Bronx Community College Broncos at home in the Region XV playoff game. BCC came in as the #7 seed in the region.
Nassau jumped out to an early 10-point lead, outscoring the Broncos 18-8. The Lions lead increased to 17 points with 6:39 left in the half. BCC fought back making a 14-6 run of their own to cut the deficit to 9 points going into halftime. The score was 37-28.
Cheyenne Nettleton led the team the first half with 12 points, while teammate
Darius Young tallied 9.
The Broncos momentum extended into the second half as they pulled the match within 3 points. The score was 50-47 with 7:55 remaining. It wasn't until Young hit a 3-pointer to increase Nassau's lead to 6 points around the 7-minute mark that officially helped the Lions pull away. The final score was 71-60, Nassau.
Standout players of the game were
Darius Young, who ended with a total of 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Stephen Moncrieffe also recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Lions now hold a record of 23-8 overall and 13-3 in the conference.

The Lions advance to play Monroe College-Bronx in the Region XV Semifinals on Saturday, March 2nd at 5 PM ET. The game will be hosted by Manhattan Community College.
