(Newport, RI) Over the weekend, the Nassau Lions Men's Lacrosse Team traveled to Rhode Island to compete against the Midshipmen of Navy Prep. Navy Prep is well known for a strong and athletic team and the challenge this year would be no different. 
 
For the first and second quarter, the game was like a ping pong match with how much back and forth there was between the two teams. Navy came out blazing with the first 2 goals before Nassau could respond. Each team continued to trade goals making it a tied game 6-6 halfway through the second quarter. Nassau went on a run to bring the score to 12-7 just before halftime. NCC successfully held their lead and finished the game 24-17.
 
Justin Roderka recorded 8 goals and 2 assists. Liam Muldoon had 3 goals and 4 assists. Teammate Pat Behrens tallied 1 goal and 5 assists to lead the team. Eddie Munoz scored 2 goals and 2 assists. Tanner Germain had 4 goals, while Matt Russo had 1 goal and 1 assist. Sean Marklin and Rob Connors both tallied 2 goals. Tyler Butrico and Aldrich Cheng contributed with 1 goal and 1 assist respectively. 
 
"I am happy that we are bringing home the win, but I know there are areas we need to improve on before the tournament in May. We have one more game that will let us work out all the kinks and tell us if we are prepared for the championships or not." Commented Head Coach John Savage post game. 
 
The Lions record is 11-1 overall. They will play Finger Lakes Community College this Saturday at home. The game will begin at 1 PM ET.
