(New Rochelle, NY) Nassau Football traveled upstate to compete against #15 ranked Monroe College.

The Lions defense struggled to stop the Mustangs in the first quarter. Monroe scored 14 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second to put them up 35-0 going into halftime. 

Nassau got on the board in the 3rd quarter, and held the Mustangs to only 9 points. It was in the 4th quarter that Nassau recovered back to back onside kicks to narrow the lead to just 17 points. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to save the Lions. The final score was 52-27.

Freshman Quarterback, Steve Sanchez, threw for 266 yards. He completed 4 touchdowns and threw 2 interceptions. Wide Receiver Josh Okechukwu tallied 7 receptions for 77 yards and 1 touchdown. Safety Dave Orduson had 8 tackles, 4 assists and 1 interception.

Quaterbacks Coach Marc Poppe commented, "We fell behind early and had a slow start. We fought to score 3 straight touchdowns, but at that point there wasn't enough time to shorten the deficit anymore. The positive is that we know what we need to do to clean up before next week."

The Lions hit the road again to compete against Louisburg College before having two home games against Hudson Valley and Army Prep the following weeks.
