Preseason No. 10 ranked Lions head to Bayside for season opener against Queensborough
The Lions entered the season ranked 10th in the Pre-Season polls and traveled to Bayside to face the Queensborough Tigers to open the season and defend that ranking. The Lions went into halftime with a six point lead against the Tigers with the score being 42-36. In the second half the Lions were able to outscore the Tigers 53-52, although the Tigers were able to keep pace with the Lions scoring output the first half lead proved to be the difference between these two teams with the final score being 95-88 in a Lions victory. Darius Young spearheaded the Lions offense scoring an impressive 33 points, going 8-15 from behind the arc and grabbing 8 rebounds. Sophomore
Ahunna Okoko nearly managed to put up a triple double, recording14 points grabbing 10 rebounds,and 8 assists. Accompanying Young and Okoko was
Shabue Mosley who provided 20 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. As a team the Lions 40.3% (31-77) from the field ; 34.5% (10-29) from 3-point range; 74.2% (23-31) from the free throw; recorded 37 rebounds and 17 assists. For their next matchup they head to Warwick, Rhode Island to compete in the CCRI Invintational tournament.
