Lions lose in OT against Monroe Bronx
The Lions hosted Monroe-Bronx in a Thursday matchup that winded up going into overtime. Going into this game the Lions were undefeated having won their first five games of the season and looked to add another win to their record. Monroe came into this game with a five and one record having won their previous four game. Nassau came out the gates strong having got a lead in the first half however Monroe was able to keep pace with Nassau and go bucket for bucket with them. When the first half concluded the Lions were up by three points with the score being 45-42. The second half saw both teams slow down a in their scoring pace as both teams managed to find success with their defenses. Monroe was able to slow down the Lions enough to outscore them in the second half 39-36, costly free throw misses prevented the Lions from securing the win and pushed the game into overtime. In overtime Monroe grabbed a lead in the final seconds of the game and Nassau couldn't connect with a buzzer beater shot ultimately losing the game by one with a final score of 91-90. The Lions Darius Young was a standout performer having made clutch shots all night, he ended the game with 28 points having gone 7/12 from three point range, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Another standout performance came from Shabue Mosley who managed to rack up a double-double with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.
