The Lions win home opener
The Lions opened their season on the road as they traveled to play The Manhattan Panthers. The first quarter of the game started out slow as both teams implemented defensive game plans that made it difficult for the offenses to get going, as a result of that the score at the end of the first quarter was 15-8 with the Lions in the lead. The second quarter saw the Lions being able to break down the Panthers defense as they were able to spread the scoring amongst their starting five. The defense maintained its first quarter success as well limiting the Panthers opportunities and shot quality. The Lions led at halftime with the score of 36-14. Coming out of halftime the Lions kept rolling as they had up to that point with Freshman guard Frances Brown led the Lions offense having scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Senoah Innocent and Lea Pohalski provided great defense to limit the Panthers offense as they both recorded 4 steals en route to the Lions winning their opening game of the season by a score of 76-30.
