Home Opener SWEEP of ASA Double Header

Game 1

Nassau Community College Lions Varsity stole the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over Asa on Saturday.  The game was tied at five with Nassau Community College Lions Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when #31 induced James Brush to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Asa scored three runs in the third inning, but Nassau Community College Lions Varsity still managed to pull out the victory.  #23 and #4 each drove in runs during the inning.

In the first inning, Asa got their offense started when #23 doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Bryan Krolikowski got the start for Nassau Community College Lions Varsity. The righty went four innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking one.

#31 led things off on the hill for Asa. undefined surrendered six runs on four hits over five innings, striking out 11.  #22 threw one inning out of the bullpen.

Nassau Community College Lions Varsity totaled seven hits.  Frank DiMartino, Richie Apollo, and Donaven Kregeloh all had multiple hits for Nassau Community College Lions Varsity.  Kregeloh, Apollo, and DiMartino all had two hits to lead Nassau Community College Lions Varsity.  DiMartino led Nassau Community College Lions Varsity with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.

Asa collected six hits on the day.  #23 and #12 all managed multiple hits for Asa.


Game 2

It came down to the wire on Saturday, with Nassau Community College Lions Varsity taking victory on a dramatic walk-off sacrifice fly in the late innings that sealed their victory over Asa.  The game was tied at 11 with Nassau Community College Lions Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Richie Apollo's sac fly scored one run for Nassau Community College Lions Varsity.

Asa scored eight runs in the second inning, but Nassau Community College Lions Varsity still managed to pull out the victory.  Asa offense in the inning was led by #32, #2,  #12, #1, and #32, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Asa fired up the offense in the second inning, when #32 tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Nassau Community College Lions Varsity scored seven runs in the third inning.  Nassau Community College Lions Varsity batters contributing to the big inning included Chris McGuggart, Apollo, Jordan Chin, Mike Cipoletti, and Brian McCloskey, who each had RBIs in the inning.

James Cappozzi led things off on the mound for Nassau Community College Lions Varsity. The pitcher surrendered eight runs on six hits over three innings, striking out two and walking zero.

#33 toed the rubber for Asa. The hurler lasted two and a third innings, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out one.  ##20 and #17 entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings and one inning respectively.

Jorge Espinal went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Nassau Community College Lions Varsity in hits.

Asa racked up eight hits.  #12 and #32 all had multiple hits for Asa.  #12 led Asa with three hits in four at bats.
