Lions split series with Kingsborough

Game 1
The Lions hosted the first game of a four game series with the Kingsborough Wave Tuesday where the Lions entered having won five straight while Kingsborough entered having won four of their last five. This was shaping up to be a competitive series on paper, The first game saw both teams early on get on the board with the Lions jumping out to a 3-0 start in the first inning however a big top of the second for Kingsborough saw them put up seven. The Lions would bounce back in the bottom half of the inning and bring the score to 7-6. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Lions would tie the game but Kingsborough manged to respond tacking on six runs in the following three innings. The Lions tried to mount a late comeback as they were able to score three runs in the seventh however that wouldn't be enough as Kingsborough kept them off the board for the rest of the game while adding another run in the ninth inning. Kingsborough took the first game of the series by a score of 10-14. Some of the Lions top performances came from Anthony Lamar who had three RBI's to accompany his three hits that included two doubles; Dylan Strang who recorded three runs with two hits and two RBI's ;and Vincent Rutligliano who recorded two runs, two hits, and two RBI's.

Game 2 
 The Lions looked to even the series in game two as they came out the gates swinging having put up five runs in the first two innings while keeping Kingsborough off the board for the first three innings. In the bottom of the third inning the Lions managed to break the game open by scoring seven runs making the score 12-0. Kingsborough would get on the board in the fourth inning by scoring one run in which the Lions would match in the bottom half. The Lions would shut down Kingsborough for the final inning resulting in a final score of 13-1. Lions Nick Schimmel recorded the win on the mound as he struck out four while only allowing three hits and one earned run. Nick Sampogna went 3-3 on the day recording two RBI's as well as a run; Matthew Perri recorded three runs and an RBI for the Lions; and Christopher McGuggart recorded three hits, two runs and an RBI in the victory. 

Game 3
Game 3 of the series saw both teams even at one game apiece. Kingsborough scored two runs in the first inning but the Lions would respond as in the top of the second inning they would go on to score four runs. The Lions would tack on two more runs in the subsequent next three innings. In the sixth and seventh innings Kingsborough and the Lions would go back and forth adding a run in their respective alf inning however from there on neither team would score leading the final score to a Lions7-4 victory. Some top performances came from Julio Lizardo who recorded two runs as well as two RBI's; Nick Sampogna who recorded two RBI's and one run; and Chris McGuggart who recorded an RBI as well as a run on two hits. James Capozzi was credited with the win as he went six innings striking out ten batters and allowing five hits. 

Game 4
In the final game of the series we saw both teams fight to end on a high note as the Lions wanted to win the series and Kingsborough wanted to exit it even. In the first three innings we saw Nassau score nine runs while Kingsborough scored four. However, in the bottom of the fourth and fifth Kingsborough managed to score nine runs of their own while keeping the Lions scoreless until the the seventh. In the seventh inning the Lions battled back and score four runs to tie the game up at 13. But then in the bottom of the seventh Kingsborough got one run across and that is all it took as they kept the Lions off the scoreboard for the final two innings giving them the 13-14 victory as well as splitting the series. Some Lions top performances came from Anthony Lamar who went 3-3 with a triple, scoring thre runs as well as three RBI's; Tristan Nolan who recorded two RBI's and two runs; and Jack Flood who recorded two RBI's and a run. 
The Lions now set their sights on post season play as they look to make a run.
