The second-seeded Nassau Community College men's soccer team defeated seventh-seeded Joliet Junior College, 4-0, on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Division III National Championship and Region XV Championship. The Lions advance to the semifinal round where they will faced third-seeded Mohawk Valley Community College on Friday at Genesee Community College (Batavia, NY).

How it happened

• Marco Russo opened the scoring in the 20th minute and Marc Augustin doubled NCC's lead in the 41st minute (2-0).
• Matteo Kanakaris extended Nassau's lead to three goals in the 79th minute, and Russo's second in the 83rd minute capped the match's scoring (4-0).
• NCC keeper Ford Balde made five saves.
• Augustin recorded a game-best six shots and picked up an assist on Russo's second goal.

• Friday's semifinal match will take place at 1:30 p.m. Should the Lions win, they would play either (1) Dallas College Richland or (4) Camden County College.
