How It Happened:
The Lions made an early statement with a 40-yard field goal from Igor Rzasa at 11:39 in the first quarter, putting Nassau ahead 3-0. The defense followed suit as Chad Case intercepted a pass and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 10-0 with Rzasa's successful extra point.
Rochester answered with a pivotal play with a picked off a pass and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown, closing the gap to 10-7. Rochester then took a 14-10 lead with a 78-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Nassau cut Rochester's lead to 13-14 with another field goal from Rzasa. The fourth quarter saw Jared Alexander score on a 3-yard run, and Prince Perry's 2-point conversion pass to Elijah Porter gave Nassau a 21-14 lead. Rochester tied the game at 21-21 with a 38-yard touchdown pass.
In overtime, Rochester briefly took the lead with a 3-yard touchdown run, but their extra point attempt was missed, putting them ahead 27-21. Nassau responded with a determined drive, and Jayden Taylor scored on a 3-yard run. Igor Rzasa's successful extra point secured the 28-27 win for Nassau.
