Women's Volleyball Defeats LaGuardia

Result

The Nassau Community College women's volleyball team continued its strong run through Region XV play with a 3-1 win over LaGuardia Community College (25-13, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16) on Thursday. The Lions improved to 12-5 overall and 9-2 in Region XV.

How It Happened

  • Set 1 (25-13): Nassau opened the match with dominant serving from Alanice Rios and a quick offensive rhythm behind setter Jocelyn Teel. The Lions jumped out to a 13-5 lead and never looked back, closing the set with a kill from Alexandra Pierre-Saint and an ace by Teel.

  • Set 2 (25-20): LaGuardia fought back early, but Nassau's front line—led by Rhianna Miller and Pierre-Saint—controlled the net down the stretch. Rios and Teel combined for four service aces, and Miller sealed the frame with a cross-court kill to give Nassau a 2-0 advantage.

  • Set 3 (22-25): The visiting Red Hawks capitalized on several Nassau errors and improved passing to edge the third set. Despite five kills from Miller and strong defensive play from libero Jenna Ramlogan, LaGuardia held on to win 25-22.

  • Set 4 (25-16): Nassau regrouped quickly and stormed out to a 10-1 lead, highlighted by three aces from Rios and two kills from Pierre-Saint. The Lions maintained control the rest of the way, with Miller delivering the final point on a kill from Teel to clinch the match.
