The Nassau Community College women's basketball team defeated Suffolk County Community College by a score of 71-50 on Tuesday evening.
How it Happened
- Nassau and Suffolk played an even first quarter, ending with the score tied 11-11. Suffolk held a three point lead at halftime, before Nassau pulled away in the third quarter. An 8-0 run by Nassau, with all baskets scored Kirina Azemar, helped the Lions lead 45-34 at the end of the third. Nassau outscored Suffolk 26-16 in the final quarter to secure the win.
- Nassau outrebounded Suffolk 54-38. The Lions grabbed 22 offensive rebounds, for 12 second chance points, and scored 42 points in the paint.
Notes
- Kirina Azemar led the team with 39 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Azemar stands at #2 in the NJCAA in points per game with 28.3.
- Nykia Robinson scored 21 points, with three three-pointers. She also had five steals and three rebounds.
- Janatta Bartley controlled the boards with 20 rebounds for the Lions.
Nassau travels to play at #5 Hostos Community College on Thursday, February 13th at 6 PM.
