The Nassau Community College women's basketball team defeated Bronx Community College by a score of 62-48 on Tuesday evening in the quarterfinal round of the Region XV tournament. #4 Nassau will face #1 Hostos in the semifinal round this Saturday, March 1st at  12 PM at Kingsborough Community College. The Lions will look to upset the Caimans, as Hostos defeated Nassau in both meetings in the regular season.

How it Happened

• Nassau took an early lead off an eight point run to end the first quarter, 13-5. Bronx battled to bring the deficit to three points in the second quarter, but Nassau held on to have the advantage at halftime, 27-19.
• A big third quarter led by 12 points from Kirina Azemar widened the gap for the Lions, leading 46-30 at the end of the period.
• Nassau's largest lead came with 18 points at 4:36 in the third quarter.
• The Lions outrebouned Hostos 76-51, with 38 points scored in the paint.

Notes

• Kirina Azemar led the team with a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds, along with three assists.
• Nykia Robinson scored 20 points, with three three-pointers. She added six rebounds, three steals, and one assist.
• Ambrasia Frye narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
• Janatta Bartley controlled the boards with 29 rebounds.
