#3 Nassau Defeats #2 CCBC-Essex

Result

The #3 Nassau Community College men's lacrosse team defeated #2 CCBC-Essex by a score of 12-8 on Saturday afternoon. CCBC-Essex was the runner-up at the 2024 NJCAA championship.

How it Happened

  • The home team CCBC-Essex scored first just 90 seconds into play, and added another at 8:43 to lead Nassau 2-0.
  • Nassau responded with one goal in the first quarter from Brady Dolan to trail 2-1 at the buzzer. 
  • The Lions capitalized on a man-up opportunity just 30 seconds into the second quarter to tie the game at 2 off a goal from Ryan Krudis.
  • Nassau took the lead at 12:37 in the 2nd off Dolan's second goal, and Jack Lepore scored one of his own, before CCBC-Essex netted one to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Lions. Lepore scored another at the end of the period to lead 5-3 at halftime.
  • The Lions started the second half with three unanswered goals by Dolan and Jake Lewis (2). The two teams then traded goals to make the score 9-5 going into the final quarter.
  • Two quick goals in the 4th opened the lead for Nassau at 11-5. The Knights continued to fight as the put up a few more goals by the end of regulation, but Nassau remained on top 12-8.
  • Nassau took 19 shots on goal, compared to 17 by CCBC-Essex. 
  • CCBC-Essex took more overall shots, but Nassau held a better on-goal percentage at 56%.
