The Nassau Community College women's volleyball team turned in a strong performance at LaGuardia, defeating the host LaGuardia Community College 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 26-24, 25-9) before sweeping Ulster Community College 3-0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-11). The Lions showed resilience, bouncing back after a dropped set to LaGuardia and dominating Ulster in straight sets; with Miller and Clarke leading the front line, Teel directing the offense, and Ramlogan anchoring the defense.
How It Happened
LaGuardia (3-1):
- Nassau opened the day with a hard-fought battle. The Lions controlled the first set behind Rhianna Miller's early swings and Hannah Clarke's steady presence at the net, taking it 25-18. LaGuardia responded in the second, capitalizing on Nassau errors and sharp serving to even the match 25-19. The pivotal third set went back and forth, with Nassau rallying late behind Alexandra Pierre-Saint's kill and Miller's block to edge out 26-24. With momentum secured, Nassau dominated the fourth, storming to a 25-9 finish powered by Clarke and Takiya Wilder at the net.
Ulster (3-0):
- Nassau carried the momentum into its second match and never looked back. The Lions jumped out to a 25-6 win in the opening frame behind Alanice Rios' serving runs and Teel's distribution. They continued the pressure in Set 2 with Pierre-Saint and Clarke combining for kills in a 25-13 win. The finale was highlighted by strong serving from Brianna Ramirez and Jenna Ramlogan, as Nassau closed the sweep 25-11.
