The Nassau Community College men's soccer team enters the 2026 Region XV Championship as the No. 1 seed after completing an undefeated regular season. The Lions (12-0-1) will open postseason play against No. 8 seed Bronx Community College in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m.
Nassau secured the top seed following an impressive regular season that included an 11-0-1 conference record and seven consecutive victories to close out the schedule. The Lions have been dominant on both ends of the field, outscoring opponents 59-7 while averaging 4.54 goals per game and recording seven shutouts.
The quarterfinal matchup will be a familiar one for Nassau, as the Lions defeated Bronx 3-0 on the road in its regular-season finale on October 20. The Lions controlled the offensive opportunities in that contest, recording 21 shots while earning their fifth shutout in their final six games.
Nassau's offensive attack has been led by freshman Ismael Garcia, who leads the Lions with 12 goals and 31 points while adding seven assists. Mohamed Alsayedi and Kevin Reynoso Perez have each contributed seven goals, while Makhai Noel, Edgar Velazquez, and Benjamin Perez have added six apiece. Alexis Gomez has also been instrumental in creating scoring opportunities, leading the team with 11 assists.
Defensively, the Lions have been equally impressive, allowing just seven goals across 13 games. Freshman goalkeeper Victord Lozano has anchored the defense, posting a 9-0-1 record with a 0.32 goals-against average and an .870 save percentage.
Nassau enters the postseason with considerable momentum, having outscored its opponents 38-2 over its final seven regular-season contests. That stretch included a 1-0 victory over No. 2 seed Monroe University-Bronx on October 6 and a 4-0 shutout of No. 3 seed Ulster County Community College on October 15.
The Lions will look to carry that momentum into Saturday's quarterfinal matchup as they begin their pursuit of the Region XV Championship.
