Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Third in The Nation

The Nassau Community College men's volleyball team is making a powerful statement in 2026. With an 8–2 overall record, a 2–0 mark in Region XV, and a current six-match win streak, Nassau has surged to #3 in the national rankings, establishing itself as one of the premier programs in the country. After early-season tournament play, Nassau regrouped and has been nearly unstoppable. The Lions have rattled off six consecutive victories, including critical conference wins and gritty five-set battles that showcased their resilience.

The defining moment of the streak came most recently on February 25, when Nassau defeated Brookdale Community College on the road in a thrilling five-set match (25-17, 27-29, 20-25, 25-19, 15-13). Despite dropping sets two and three, Nassau responded with composure and toughness to close out the match in decisive fashion. Joseph Woods led the way with 14 kills, four aces, and three blocks, while Thomas Wildeman added 12 kills, five aces, and six blocks. Setter Dom Cieleski orchestrated the offense with 44 assists and chipped in 11 digs, highlighting the team's balance and depth under pressure.

Through 10 matches, Nassau has emerged as one of the most dynamic attacking teams in the nation. The Lions have totaled 401 kills (10.28 per set), 100 service aces (2.56 per set), and 568 total points while hitting .186 as a team. Wildeman leads the offense with 107 kills and 27 aces, Rivera has been highly efficient with 63 kills and a .344 hitting percentage, and Tristan Harrison has contributed 62 kills. Cieleski has distributed 303 assists (7.97 per set), guiding a fast-paced, balanced attack that has nearly doubled opponents in aces this season.

Defensively, Nassau has been just as impressive. The Lions have recorded 404 digs (10.36 per set) and 67 total blocks (1.72 per set) while holding opponents to a .129 hitting percentage. Wildeman leads the team with 74 digs, followed closely by Ismael Nunez and Tristan Harrison, while Johncarlo Rivera anchors the net with 32 total blocks. Nassau's strong serve-receive percentage of .940 has allowed the team to consistently transition from defense to offense, a key factor in multiple five-set victories.

Nassau remains undefeated in Region XV play with dominant sweeps over Hostos Community College and Borough of Manhattan Community College, reinforcing its position as the team to beat in the region. At 8–2 overall, undefeated in conference competition, and riding a six-match win streak, the Lions have proven they can win on the road, handle pressure, and execute in tight moments. Now ranked #3 nationally, Nassau is not just off to a strong start — the Lions are building momentum toward what could be a special championship run in 2026.
