(Garden City, NJ) Nassau Women's Basketball held their first conference game this past week against Queensborough Community College.
The Queensborough Tigers tried keeping it close the first quarter, finishing 19-10, but it was no match for what the Lions had up their sleeves. They scored 34 points alone in the second quarter, putting the Lions up 53-24 going into the half. NCC held Queensborough to a completely scoreless 3rd quarter, and finished hard winning by a margin of 48 points, 88-40.
Victoria Mercado brought her A game offensively, shooting 8-17 from the field, and finishing with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Niyah Ellis tallied 6 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 blocks. Sam Capobioncos recorded a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds coming off the bench.
Kashianna Wynter finished with 12 points and 7 assists total.
Nicole McCann had a career high of 33 points and 11 rebounds. She was on fire shooting an impressive 11-17 from the 3 point line.

Brian Kuar commented, "Our ladies were excited about this game, and helping each other out defensively, which really helped to fuel our offensive attack. I'm excited to see where this team can take us this year."
