Lions Fall Short to 7th Ranked Lackawanna

(Scranton, PA) The Nassau Lions took on the Lackawanna College Falcons last weekend in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Lions were coming off of solid win from the previous week, and were confident in taking down the Falcons.

NCC came out strong. Within the first 3 minutes of the game, Ahmere Dorsey completed a 41 yard pass from Quarterback Khalil Trotman scoring their first touchdown of the game! But it didn't take long for the Falcons to answer back, saying they were there to play ball. They scored as well with 9 minutes left in the first half. The Lions closed out the quarter up 9-7.

The second quarter was a tough one for the Lions. Their defense read a few wrong plays, and the Falcons started to fly scoring 21 points in the second quarter. The Lions didn't give up though - they were able to score too, and kept the game within reach at 21-28 going into the half.

Returning from halftime, Lackawanna was able to sneak around the Lions defense, and score again. The Lions responded knowing they needed to keep the game close. Jelani Greene completed an 18 yard pass from Khalil Trotman to bring the score within 10 (27-37). Before going into the 4th quarter, the Falcons ran the ball in for another touchdown. They were also able to make a field goal, and finished with a score of 27-43.

NCC managed to score an impressive 12 points in the 4th quarter to try and stay alive, but it just wasn't enough to catch the Falcons this time. The Lions held them to only 2 points while making a gain of 6 on their end. The final score was 39-48.

Looking at the box stats, Quarterback Khalil Trotman lead the offense completing 30-53 for 310 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The pass game saw 11 different players with a reception led by Greene and Justin Dennis corralling 6 each. Ahmere Dorsey displayed his unique versatility as he had a a 41 yard touchdown reception, a 31 yard touchdown pass, and a 92 yard kickoff return touchdown that was unfortunately called back on a penalty.
